30th Annual Sunshine Music Festival
Labour Day Weekend, Sept 3 & 4, 2011
Palm Beach, Powell River
The 30th Annual Sunshine Music Festival is set to take place during Labour Day Weekend of 2011 (September 3 & 4). The Festival is a celebration of music from across Canada and the world.
Expect to see world class performances in a picturesque setting at Palm Beach Park on the waterfront. Shop at the craft market and enjoy some tasty treats from the many food vendors. Year after year, the festival gets better and better.
Hope to see you there and don’t forget your beachware!
Where have the years gone?
Plans for this year’s 30th festival are well under way; we would like to make it special, where have the years gone?
The Sunshine Folk Festival, aka the Sunshine Music Festival began with a small group of Vancouver Folk Festival fans who thought, “why not start our own festival here in Powell River?” It was and continues to be a good idea and well supported by people with the love of live music. We continue to be a volunteer driven festival, no one draws a salary and we continue to boast one stage. Where many festivals have expanded to multiple stages the Sunshine Music Festival has kept its small community charm.
People that come every year do so because they believe in this event, that it is the nicest, most relaxed, friendly festival in the area. Young and old alike always hear something that they just have to dance too. When Bill Borne attended our festival last year, he just couldn't stop smiling at the little crowd and 2-4 year olds dancing in front of the stage, he said “now they have the right idea”
The children who grew up with the festival are now bringing their children, it is a statement of the importance of this great community event. Oh did we mention it is located on one of the nicest beaches on the Sunshine Coast? We hope to see you there!
